Wait! Think Repurpose, Reuse, Recycle

by Susan Hamersky, California Concierge LLC

In honor of Earth Day, here are some tips help the environment.  Below is a list of everyday items you might be throwing in the trash.  For each of these items, you can reuse, recycle or repurpose them.

1) Repurpose Glass Jars-

Glass jarsInstead, wash them out thoroughly then run the jars through a hot dishwasher cycle to sanitize. Now, you can repurpose those sets of sturdy jars…perfect for dry goods, drinking glasses and storage for leftovers.

2) Reuse Plastic Bags-

Try lining your small trash cans (like bathrooms or bedrooms) with these bags. Use them to hold wet clothes and swimsuits. Many grocery stores also have boxes at the entrance where you can recycle them.

3) Recycle Electronics-

ElectronicsCall your local charities and ask what electronics they will accept. Search for cell phone donation charities. Want to make money off of your old cell phones or laptops? Consider selling them on  Gazelle.com.

4) Repurpose, Reuse, Recycle Clothes-

donate clothesTake your old t-shirts and socks and turn them into cleaning cloths. Donate them to charity. Host a clothing exchange party with friends. Take them to a consignment shop to earn some extra money.
